The Loss Heard Around The World

Shock and disbelief over the Capitals loss is overwhelming. I still can't believe it. This team has come so far over the last few years. All the hype would make a person believe that this would be the year we would be hoisting the cup. I know. I wanted to buy into it all. I think since working for the NHL and the Caps being my home team, the loss just felt that much more personal. I have been on the verge of crying all morning. You don't like to see the people you care about, in so much pain and heartbroken. As a fan, I can see where it would be easier to criticise and point fingers. I understand that some fans want to win and when they don't, they bad mouth their own team. I call you a fair-weather fan. Yes, be disappointed, but don't bash a team that came from last place a few years ago to being who they are today. Being much closer to the situation, you know these guys wanted to win just as badly as there fans, coaches, managers, and owners. These guys played all year for one thing, Lord Stanley's Cup. I even feel myself wanting to point fingers, but why rub salt in an open wound. It won't make any difference right now. We lost. It makes no sense, but we lost.

Should some of the guys who make the big bucks have shown up to play? Absolutely! Was Halak just simply amazing? One hundred percent, YES! Montreal had nothing to lose and the Caps had everything to lose. And, lose we did. Will history keep repeating itself? I hope not. I don't want to feel like this ever again. So for now, I will hang up my blazer and put away my heels and hope for great season this fall.
